Dangers of a High Sugar Diet

A lot of sources tell you that too much sugar is bad for you, but the point of this blog post is to explain why you should be all that bothered. It’s all very well saying that eating too much sugar  could give you health issues in years to come and all that, but the fact is, sugar tastes good, and a lot of people live for the here and now, so that’s what I want to talk about-potential dangers of a high sugar diet in the here and now…and sex…and hormones…and latent addiction…Ohhh, let’s just get going…

Excess sugar can cause problems in the bedroom

That cringe-worthy phrase ‘give me some sugar’ has never been more inappropriate, ’cause it turns out that too much sugar in the diet has been linked with erectile dysfunction. See, it’s all to down to a carbohydrate called fructose. Healthy levels of fructose are present in fruit, but there much higher concentrations  in many high sugar foods and artificial sweeteners.

In small doses, fructose is an effective energy source,  but when consumed regularly, it causes nitric acid levels to plummet, and guess what, men?  No nitric acid, and the only thing that’s gonna get hard on a regular basis is the conversation over breakfast, so  if you want to keep your lovers sweet, it might be best to watch your sugar intake.

If that is not bad enough carry on reading to discover even more dangers of a high sugar diet.

Excess sugar could make you fat very quickly

One lump or two

Did you know that by the time you’ve finished a glass of juice in the morning, the sugar content has already turned to fat? Bit of a gloomy thought, isn’t it?

But we can blame our old friend Mr. Fructose for that too. That’s right, as well as causing chaos in your sex lives, consuming too much fructose also confuses the hell out of your liver, which can’t process it, so just gives up and convert it straight to fat.

I need to stress that although fructose occurs naturally in fruit, given the vitamins and antioxidants also in fruit, you shouldn’t let the presence of fructose stop you from eating your five fruit and veg a day.

Excess sugar plays havoc with your brain’s communication system

Have a look at this infographic, it shows some of the ways that excess sugar can mess with your brain chemistry. I’m not going to lie, some of the effects seem pretty grim.

The Mind (3)

 Signing off…

I have to admit, it hasn’t been all flowers and rainbows this week, but I hope that that this blog post has a least given you a starting point for your own research into sugar. Next week, I promise something a little more cheery to sweeten things up…

Til then,
